What is the difference between a Vegan, Vegetarian & Plant-Based Diet 

Wondering what makes a vegan diet different to a vegetarian diet? What about the plant-based, where does this fit in? In this presentation, Dietitian Rebecca Ponsford, will explain exactly what the terms vegan, vegetarian and plant-based actually mean when it comes to food. We’ll explore the similarities and also the differences between these diets and discuss the benefits and possible risks of eating plant based.

About Rebecca

Rebecca Ponsford is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and Nutritionist with an expertise in gut health and digestive disorders. She completed a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics at Monash University. She operates a private practice, FODMAP Nutrition & Dietetics, providing individualised nutrition therapy to patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, with a focus on Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Coeliac Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) and Food Intolerance.

Rebecca has completed extensive post-graduate training in gut health and the low FODMAP diet and frequently supports her clients with this dietary approach. She has presented to Australian and international health professionals and audiences on the area of FODMAPs, IBS and Gut Health.

In addition to digestive health, Rebecca has a strong interest in sustainable food systems, plant-based nutrition and culinary nutrition. She is passionate about supporting people to achieve their personal health goals and develop healthy relationships with food where they can eat with ease.
